Four Variations of Downward Facing Dog

Downward facing dog is a foundational yoga pose that is a useful and usable part of a yoga practice. There are multiple variations of downward facing dog, and like EVERYTHING we cover in our classes and programs, the most important thing is to find the right variation of downward facing dog that works for YOU.

We can adjust and adapt a downward facing dog pose to work for what we need.

Sometimes we want to emphasize stretching the back. Other times we choose to emphasize opening up the hips or building stability in the shoulders. In this short video we go through four useful variations of downward facing dog.

Downward dog pose, often called ‘down dog,’ can be a useful and usable addition to your yoga practice.

In our classes and programs at The Elevate Practice, we use downward-facing dogs as a place to stretch and stabilize.
