How To Sit Cross-Legged

In my first yoga class over 23 years ago, the teacher told me to start the class in a comfortable cross-legged position. There was NO WAY any seated position on the floor that was comfortable for my tight hips and back. If that is true for you, try these three super variations.

At The Elevate Practice, we focus on ease and comfort in any seated position. Sometimes that means sitting on a few yoga blocks. Sometimes, that means using a blanket or a pillow underneath us. I have found that sometimes we need a bit more lift, especially if we are going to be sitting for more than a minute.

Remember to adapt and adjust your seated position so that your back and hips are comfortable when you sit in class or anywhere else. The goal of a pose or stretch is to feel better, so let’s keep that in mind as we use yoga blocks and blankets to sit more comfortably on the floor.

Give these variations a try, and remember that the goal of your practice is to ELEVATE your day.
